HARBIN, Heilongjiang – The first light truck of FAW-GM Light Duty Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd. rolled off the line recently in the JV’s new plant located in Harbin Southern Industrial New District. The success of this trial production signals that FAW-GM’s new Harbin plant has had the ability for initial production, which lays a solid foundation for the mass production in the immediate future.

With a total investment of ¥1.423 billion ($216 million), the new Harbin light truck plant was constructed at the end of May 2009 and expects an annual output capacity of 100,000 units. The new Harbin production base has a total area of 500,000 square meters which covers a building area of 200,000 square meters. The relocation plan of the JV’s Harbin plant started on February 18 this year and is scheduled to finish by the end of May.
